Where did this coffee really come from?
Hawaiʻi-grown coffee is among the most valuable in the world — and that premium has long made it a target for counterfeiters. Fake coffee drives down prices, dilutes regional reputations, and leaves customers unsure who to trust.
Updated state labeling laws now require at least 51% Hawaiʻi-grown content for blends carrying a Hawaiʻi origin name, and in 2025 the Legislature extended false-labeling penalties to roasted coffee. Stronger laws raise a practical question: how can farmers, processors, and roasters prove where their coffee came from?
What we'll cover
- Blockchain explained in plain language — no technical background needed
- How each hand-off (harvest, pulping, drying, milling, roasting, packaging) can be logged and verified
- Protecting origin claims and supporting Hawaiʻi's updated coffee labeling laws
- Telling your farm's story to customers who want to know what they're buying
- A look at real Hawaiʻi coffee traceability projects Pūpūkahi Tech has helped develop
- Open Q&A, followed by a 30-minute farm tour
Designed for farmers, processors, and roasters who want to protect the value of Hawaiʻi-grown coffee. This is an educational session — not investment advice.
